A Bride’s Guide to Wedding Dress Shopping (with Penrith Bridal Centre)

I recently had the opportunity to visit Penrith Bridal Centre, located in the heart of Penrith, to capture their newly renovated space. After wandering around, I wanted to go back in time and try on all the dresses for my day! But we aren’t here to talk about me!
Penrith Bridal Centre has been in operation since 1984, and has to be one of the longest standing bridal stores in Western Sydney. For the past 12 years, Melinda has owned this beautiful and inviting store and has an incredible team ready for your visit.
With two boys, wife to an accountant and cat mum to Norbert the ragdoll, Melinda is no stranger to the wedding industry. After working as a wedding photographer, Melinda embarked on owning this beautiful piece of history.

Melinda has some top tips to help you prepare for choosing the perfect dress:
1. Do some research before going into a store.
Have an idea of what you are being drawn to, and adore…even if you aren’t sure if it will suit you, it makes such a difference when you (the bride) has already worked out her ‘style vibe’ before she comes in. Then we can go with that, and find the best fit for her figure, within her budget.
2. Fittings are important
Don’t worry if you lose weight, put on weight or something isn’t quite right. This is where fittings are key. Melinda and her team are very well versed at this. They meticulously record and document measurements and other changes. But if something does happen, then they are there to support you – and you would be amazed at what they can do!
3. Come in as soon as you can; don’t leave it too close to your big day.
Depending on the dress, the style, the size and more will all impact getting the perfect dress, so it is important you don’t leave it to the last minute.
4. Come with an open mind, bring someone you trust with you who will be honest with you, and trust your consultant to guide you.
